The Opel Blitz ‘Strassenzepp Essen’ was a German bus from the mid-1930s. It was built by the Ludewig Brothers bodyshop on the chassis of the well-known Opel Blitz 3 tonne truck. The bus had an unusual futuristic appearance for the time and was widely used in promotional activities to demonstrate the progress of the German automotive industry. Total production of this type was limited. However, completed vehicles were used not only for propaganda, but also for transporting excursions through cities, of foreign guests during the 1936 Olympics, and so on. Some of the ‘Strassenzepp Essen’ buses were later passed on to the military departments of the Luftwaffe for the transport of crews.
